EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Background

The Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change (PACC) Project is a climate change adaptation project for Tonga that focuses on the water sector. It is piloting adaptation activities at its pilot site in Hihifo. The purpose of the project is to increase the resilience of the people from climate change risks particularly drought. As part of its adaptation intervention, the PACC project which is funded by the Global Environment Facility and the Australian Government will be providing tangible on the ground support for Hihifo’s water supply.

The PACC-Management Unit (PACC-PMU) hereby invites interested local companies to submit their “EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR THE FOLLOWING PACC PROJECT ACTIVITIES FOR HIHIFO DISTRICT.”

Reviewing National Implementation Plan of Operation :Tonga GIZ Regional Programme Coping with Climate Change

The SPC/GIZ Regional Programme Coping with Climate Change in the Pacific hosted a one day workshop at the Moulton Hall Nukualofa on the 6th of April 2011. The SPC/GIZ Deputy Team Leader and land-use facilitation specialist Ms. Christine Fung was here in the Kingdom to facilitate the one day workshop.

Preparation of Tonga’s National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy for land-based resources

Director for Ministry of Environment and Climate Change during his opening remarks

A one day workshop for stakeholders to develop a National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (NCCAS) for land based resources was held in Nukualofa at the Basilica Hall on the 8th of March 2011.

The workshop was attended by members of the SPC/GIZ-Coping with Climate Change Program National Steering Committee, the Climate Change Team & project coordinators from the Ministry of Environment, Civil society and NGO’S.  The workshop was facilitated by the GOPA Worldwide Consultant Professor John E. Hay.
